Default What Does This fire mean for new people moving to SD?

Higher rent prices,higher prices in general,difficulty to find a job (im in retail),...etc...?

If you're in construction, I'd guess there will be an awful lot of work for months to come. Oops. You're in retail. I don't think retail is going to be severely impacted. Most of the damage were to residential areas.

I honestly don't remember the economy taking a dive after the Cedar Fires although this is quite a bit more extensive.

I'd be interested to read the opinions.

It took some time but after the Cedar Fires almost all of Scripps Ranch was rebuilt, with many of the homes a lot larger than the original houses.

I think this time you will see the same thing, albeit stretched out longer given the scale of the damage. Most of the damage was in either rural or semi-rural suburbs where homeowners are well aware of fire damage and are appropriately insured.

I agree there will be some construction work to be had, as well as an increased awareness of fire defensibility in the future. That will extend to new opportunities for active and passive fire suppression.
