San Diego's economy after the fires-
My husband went to Home Depot a few days ago (We live in Rancho Penasquitos, North County Inland), and he said that it was like a ghost town. Between the fires and people losing their homes from sub prime mortgages going belly up, this economy has sure softened up.
I have been wondering how long I want to stay here (13 years so far), since this recent fire, and the Cedar Fires in 2003. I always wanted to live in the country. Well, scratch that idea, since you might not get help right away, because you are so far away. (usually) Also, nice, big houses in the canyon go up in flames fast (Rancho Bernardo, a little farther up the freeway from us). They had a neighborhood, called The Trails, that lost too many homes. Gorgeous homes, 5000 square feet.
I don't know. Right now, husband's job is good. He works for one of the universities, he's an engineer.
We'll see.
