So we are moving in a few months to SD and we have narrowed down our search to the Encinitas (+ Leucadia) and Cardiff areas. We've been tracking ads posted in craigslist for house rentals but there seems to be only a handful new ads every week. Are there any other sites (including good/reliable agents) where we can find more ads or is it simply that that is the speed of the rental market there, or that this is not the best time of the year to be looking for rentals?
Thanks!

Redfin may have house rentals, as well as Homes.com.
Call a realtor from a big company like Keller-Williams or Coldwell Banker. They should be able to help you, too.
Good luck.

If you don't mind me asking....why are you going to rent? Anywho, we used a killer realtor here in SD. Moved from Vegas back to SD. He was a NO BS realtor who basically didn't waste our time and gave it to us straight. I can't stand the desperate or arrogant realtor. If you'd like his info...let me know. Good luck on your search!!!!!

Hi bubleguppy, ideally we are looking for a 3BD or a 2+1 (the +1 being an office and bedroom for visitors when needed) under $2800. Don't know if the fact that we don't see properties in that range is because they simply don't exist in the area or because the market over there is slow.

I think you'd be lucky to find a 3 bedroom home in Encinitas or Cardiff for $2800 or less.

My co-worker used Craigslist for Cardiff. They needed a larger home, 4-5 bedrooms. They found one for $3800. When I was looking for rentals, I rarely saw ads for Cardiff on Craigslist, probably because it was out of my price range! You may want to consider Carmel Valley for your budget. You are still fairly close to the ocean communities in CV.
