As someone who might also be relocating to SD, I read thru this thread with a great deal of interest. I was just wondering the outcome for the original poster, SUSANMMC. Did you finally move? And if so, where? Any words of wisdom for someone else who might be moving to the area? Did you end up renting or buying? I'd love to hear about your recent experience.

THANKS!

Default Helpful responses to your questions.

I know that you, your husband and kids will enjoy San Diego. It's a great place to live! Specifically, I'll answer your questions as follows: Charted schools here in San Diego consentrate on certain curriculums. High Tech High for instance is located in Point Loma (Liberty Station) and is closest to your Clairemont location. A charter school for the performing arts is located in our inner city and is further away. Clairemont as a neighborhood is very nice and is easy to get in and out of because of our freeway system. You can still get a nice home there in your price range. Tierrasanta is further east off of Hwy 52 but only by about 15 minutes or so. Housing is limited in that neighborhood in your price range but is available. San Diego is very strong in biotech especially in the Torrey Pines area(closer to Clairemont) and Sorrento Valley just north on the 5 freeway from Clairemont. Clairemont is very much a family neighborhood with younger families as is Tierrasanta. I would lean toward Clairemant High as the better of the two high schools. Property values are going up strongly all over San Diego so I would suggest buying as soon as possible when you get out here as the affordability index will get worse as time goes on. I hope this gives you a better feel for what you asked about. Feel free to get back to me with any other questions.

So Susan its been about 1yr where did you move to? Oddly I also work off of Camino Santa Fe and Miramar and looking for a home. Were thinking of Enci or Carlsbad but still looking. I wish I bought back in 97 when the prices were low low low... but things change
