Hi all.

I am running the SD half marathon next March and thought I would stay a week in the west of the US of A for a spring break vacation. I know Easter is late next year but I hear March/April are always busy on spring break. Here is the lo-down. I am single in my twenties and some friends will be joining me the weekend of the race to cheer me on and then party on the west coast. I want to know is SD a big spring break place? I heard a lot of the college folk go out to the likes of Lake Havasu and so forth. The race is on March 9th and I can stay in the area until Monday 17th, I am really not constricted on where I have to be. All I want to do is spend some time on the beach, see some cool stuff in CA and party! I hear the best area of SD to do this would be pacific beach. It would be really great to experience a true US spring break still vibe, would I need to head out of SD to get this? I am also aware, the the weather can be hit or miss this time of year. Any suggestions will be welcome.

From what I've heard, most of the spring breakers that stay around here go down to Tijuana and drink all night. I think that's ill advised, but I think spring break shenanigans in general are ill advised. You can probably tell my age by the use of the word "shenanigans".

Our friends usually steer clear of Lake Havasu during spring break time due to all the partying.

March is the rainiest month of the year. While there's a chance of a mini heatwave happening during your visit, plan on the ocean water to be too cold to swim in, with air temps in the lower 60s.
