What about Grant Elementary in Serra Mesa? It has pretty good reviews on greatschools.org.

Grant Elementary is in Mission Hills, and is a very small school. There's generally a waiting list to get in, and neighborhood kids are taken first. I subbed there several times in the office, and I doubt if it's changed any.

Fletcher Elementary is not in Serra Mesa, and I think it's mainly a SpEd school. Also, considering the fact that the OP first posted in 2007, I'm sure that a school has been found by now, and I don't think the OP needs the thread to be revived now a after that length of time.
