Thank you for your response. I've been seeing more listings in our price range. We may need to do a 2 bedroom condo or townhome, hopefully with a loft or 3 bedroom/ office usage. We are putting our home for sale here in NJ in March. Hopefully the timing will work out and we will be heading to Carlsbad this Summer!

Depends on the season, the year, and how far away from the ocean you live. I'm not in Carlsbad, but Del Mar has the marine layer and you either like it or you don't. Some years you wont' notice, other years it can be annoying.

This past summer it seemed like 'june gloom' never ended. There were many days in July, August, and Sept where it would be cloudy and a bit cool in the mornings, but by 2pm it was warm and sunny. You don't need A/C at all. Whereas some friends of mine out near El Cajon were basking in heat.

Some people don't mind it, others do. There were days last summer where I'd leave Del Mar and it was foggy and cloudy and get over to Rancho Bernardo and it was sunny and hot. I don't mind this at all, but some people like sunshine all day.

But again, there are some years where 'june gloom' seems to last for a week and you don't even remember the marine layer. Just get used to it if you live near the ocean.
