According to Forbes, it placed as #10 in the country on the obese list and #7 as having the most sedentary people. Do you agree with that?

That's interesting. I can think of a lot of other cities that would place San Diego further down the list than #10 and #7 in those categories. I wonder what they used for criteria/areas to make this determination.

A little surprised... I always feel that Southern California is too vain for that.

First I've heard of it. I've seen it at the top of the "Best Looking People" category and "Most Active" categories.. Not the fat/lazy category.

San Diego is definitely not a sedentary or obese town!

Just check all the athletic people jogging, biking, blading around Mission Bay every day.

Or check the "hard-bodies" at the beaches.

I'm sure there are some obese people in every city.

But San Diego's year-round great weather keeps people outside and active!

Definitely not sedentary by any means!

I bet it's do to the Mexican culture which is not as flashy. Plus they eat a lot of burritos and those have a lot of fat and cholesterol.

As far as the city of San Diego, no. But if you look at the entire county, maybe. I do notice East County having a lot of overweight people. And as wealthtrader mentioned, a lot of Mexicans do tend to be heavyset, since their diet consists of food that is high in carbs. The city of San Diego however, especially downtown, the beach areas, Mission Valley, etc. people are really fit and active.

So you're saying burritos have more fat and cholestrol than say an In-n-Out burger meal LOL. I don't think so!!!

San Diego is succumbing to the SUV/fast food/sit-in-front-of-the-computer/TV culture as much as anywhere else in America.

Also, the 850,000 Latinos in San Diego County probably tip the scales quite a bit.

The last place I saw a lot of fit, skinny people (a month ago) was in and around downtown San Francisco.

San Francisco is a walker's town, and those hills give you a good workout...
