Aerial Maps of San Diego (actual overhead photos)
A very useful tool for exploring San Diego (or any city) from the internet is use Microsoft's Virtual Earth map:
Live Local Search
Zoom in on the area (using your mouse wheel), and select the "birds-eye" view option.
Then you can get close-up overhead (aerial) photos of the area.
That way, you can tell what it looks like (shopping centers, layout, etc)
The overhead photos are so good, you can see individual houses and cars.
