Hello,

Just wondering what beaches in San Diego have the best waves, close to the shore for bodysurfing?

Thanks

Moonlight, La Jolla Shores, Mission, Ocean beaches. Beware of sharks.
Ocean water temperature warms up in May at the earliest.

Why bother with body surfing when you can learn to surf? Rent a long board; find an experienced surfer willing to teach you, or take one or two surfing lessons.

Having a board is a lot safer than not having one. And a longboard is safer than a boogie board.

The time and energy you put into learning to surf with a board will give you longer term rewards especially when you are able stand up for the first time on the board. Before you actually stand up on the board either by laying on the board, or kneeling on the board as you ride the wave is better and more enjoyable than any body surfing you can do.

If you are a kid, teenager, or young man, do yourself a favor and learn to surf with a board while you are young.

Although not in San Diego county, "The Wedge" in Newport Beach is the most prolific spot for bodysurfing in Southern California, possibly the whole continental US. Not for beginners.
