Hello, I am a young mother of one child (a 2 yr old). Single, no father figure in the picture and I work for what I have. I am looking for Laboratory technician jobs in California and I would love for me and my son to move to the warm climate due to health reasons. Is there anywhere that is safe and affordable for a young single mother to move? Is it even possible to do so? Somewhere where it is mostly sunny, there can be a Autumn feel at some times, but mostly warm all the time. Somewhere my son can explore, and have fun while being safe. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY AFFORDABLE!

Poway is very safe and mostly warm. Though not an inexpensive area, they have some affordable housing opportunities. First thing you need is a job. Then you will know if you can move and also where you would be working. The greater San Diego area is generally safe and has a moderate climate. Job first, then location search.

San Diego would be good. There would be some options for locations in the city....Affordable will depend on your budget, but it's a large enough metro area that we could probably recommend you somewhere. The area is a great place to raise a family (it's often touted as such in different media) and is considered one of the safest large cities in the country.

45 minutes north of SD is Temecula/Murrietta; they are in south Riverside county, but 30 minutes from north SD beaches. They have good schools and are great for families, plus lower cost than SD. Jobs may or may not be available in your field, though. But it's worth checking. It's warmer in the summer there than in most of SD (but no humidity!) but very moderate the rest of the year.

Once you have some leads on job locations in SD, from online listings, etc, mention them and we can suggest areas for living to minimize commute time. Then you can start fleshing out a picture of what is available for you and what your life could look like in SD area.

These are probably your best options for climate, affordability and economic/job opportunities, in so cal.
