I've worked downtown for 5 years and honestly most of the restaurants downtown are very middle-of-the-road - not in necessarily a bad way. But many, many variations on similar themes for sure.

Breakfast!

List your favorite breakfast places, I'll be focusing on these areas:

Oceanbeach - We will be riding bikes all day - leisurely ride - from Gaslamp to OB. Breakfast, Brunch or Lunch places.

Point Loma - Same idea
Hillcrest - Same idea
La Lolla - Driving there from downtown - Breakfast
Del Mar - Driving there from downtown - Breakfast
City of Oceanside - Driving there from downtown - Breakfast, any places.

Since nobody answered my Breakfast question I'll let you all know - RICHARD WALKER'S restaurant. Amazing quality breakfast. Must GO, been in SD for 15-20 years. Lots of unique signature dishes.

That's the name, his full name RICHARD WALKER - one restaurant on edge of Gaslamp (Front and Island) and another restaurant is in La Jolla - not sure where

Snooze in Hillcrest, also now in Carmel Valley/Del Mar is good.
The Mission, locations downtown, mission beach, university heights, is not good any more.

Another good recommendation from me: in the Gaslamp.

La Puerta (the door) - 4th Ave between Market and Island. All locals.

Great Happy Hour - all alcohol 1/2 off, excellent marguritas!, great happy hour food items - quality Mexican food, street tacos, every kind of mexican food.

I had breakfast at the Mission in North Park last week and the food was exactly the same as it's always been. Can you clarify?

Mission does have the best French Toast and their proprietary blend of coffee from Cafe Moto is exceptional.
