Perhaps a dumb question...i went to OB this weekend and fell in love. I'll be moving there as soon as I find a place that works for me.

Something I've noticed, compared to PB very few upper class homes in OB seem to have pools. Is this simply because space is at such a premium, or is there more too it? I know OB is slightly cooler than other SD coastal communities...is that it?

Something else?

I desperately want a pool but I'm only seeing condo options..

1. Space is at a premium
2. Very few people want to deal with all the BS, permits, and inspections needed for pool construction in many areas of coastal communities.
3. The biggest pool in the world is directly west of OB.

It's also largely a rental area, up on the hill where the luxury homes are you will find plenty of pools.

The closer you get to the Ocean the smaller the parcels of land become. That and with the marine layer a pool is rarely necessary or wanted with the Ocean down the street.

As mentioned the lots with pools are up on the hill starting around 1 mill.

Yeah, all of the above. Small lots with expensive land, the ocean nearby, and with the cooler, more overcast weather, a pool would need to be heated, which is expensive. Much better to hit a public pool or brave the ocean!
