On the other side of the Point Loma peninsula is an area known as La Playa. Most of the homes are in your price range, some offer great bay views, and all within about 15 minutes to Seaworld.

Here's an example:

Nice house. I was never a huge fan of Point Loma. It is not that it is not nice, it is. It is just that I feel like it is cut off and not in the same way that La Jolla is. There is not much there and it takes too long in my opinion to get around.

I just did a bike ride with some friends from bay park to downtown 2 weeks ago. Although it was a fun ride, peoples driving scared the bejeezus out of me

Point Loma. Though you might have trouble with your budget. Cheaper, but still a viable option would be Presidio Hill over looking Old Town.
