Coming off the 90+ degree heatwave over the past five days I noticed how bone-dry the air was...each day averaging about 5-10% humidity which felt very desert like. I noticed that despite the wind I felt more energized and "lighter" when it was hot and dry.
Today, the temperatures cooled to the low to mid 70s with a gentle sea breeze near the coast. However, the humidity rebounded back to the usual 40-50% range. I felt "sweatier" and more sluggish even though the temperatures cooled.

Which do you all prefer:
Hot, clear and dry or
Mild, hazy and slightly muggy that SD is known for?

B: Mild, hazy and slightly muggy (really?) that SD is known for.

I'll take today. Just was outside tootling around the garden and any slight mugginess didn't occur to me. Much happier when it's 79 at 6 p.m. instead of 94 (allowing that extreme dryness or humidity in either case can be factors).

I was in your neck of the woods today NorthSDlifer, and had to stop for a little BBQ before visiting Frys. Hotter than at my house, but it felt pretty nice and breezy in San Marcos too.

Coming from NYC, last time I was out in SD was Sept of last year. First few days it was hot. High 80's. But that was a relief compared to the disgusting humidity and frequently oppressive heat of summer in NYC.
Anyway, just had to reply since every time I visit SD, I feel exactly like you described: lighter and more energetic.
Hot Santa Ana winds or June gloom, I'll take either!

I have never known San Diego to be "slightly muggy"....maybe a week out of the year.

I love SD weather (except for maybe the May Gray/June Gloom period). Even though I'm from OC originally I also lived in Sacramento for 15 years. Although quite warm to hot there in the summer months (92-102 degrees on average), the humidity was very low (around 15%) and the skies were usually a brilliant blue from April through October (as well as many winter days). SD skies are hazy sometimes in comparison, or as my 7 yr old niece says, "it looks like powder is in the sky". So with the low humidity in Sacramento those super hot days were very tolerable and breaking a major sweat would only occur if you were outside doing something exerting.
Coming back to the south coast I noticed I get clammy while doing regular things (even shopping at Target) or going for a morning walk. That never happened in Sacramento.
But yeah, it's nothing compared to the East Coast or Florida.

Being from the northeast (NJ), I had to lol at "mild, hazy, and slightly muggy that San Diego is known for."
