I would love to hear about the SD music scene as I am planning a move there in the fall.

I know it may not stand to the caliber of others like Seattle or NYC but I'm sure its got something going for it.

Specifically advice on specific bars which often feature great music or some unknown gems would be great!

Thanks!

I play in a band and we like the scene here. There are lots of small clubs, restaurants, local events like street fairs, coffee shops and bigger venues here to keep any band busy if they're professional and polished. Not sure what part of town you'd be in so saying where we play in coastal North County might not help, but surely there are plenty of opportunities wherever you end up.
My suggestion when you arrive is to find a band on Craigslist or in the Reader and just start gigging at open mic nights or whatever you can get just to be out there.
