Has anyone had an outdoor shower installed at their place? I'd really like to put one in since I'm always at the beach. Can anyone recommend any contractors that would do this at a good price? I don't want anything fancy, just a basic shower stall that can use hot and cold water. I have no idea what something like this would cost.

Thanks!

Ya, if you need to tie into a drain plus run a hot water line you'll need to get permits. Contractor for sure.

There was one at our place when we bought it in 2008. Basic PVC but it has hot and cold water. It just drains into the dirt under our wood deck. We use it only for coming home from the beach. I have an old surfboard I'd like to use for it and drill the water handles and shower head into the board. That's on the to-do list for this summer.

Is a drain required? Is this definitely something that I would need a permit for? I guess I'll have to research on the encinitas county website.

If that all starts to get unduly involved, you might just get a propane camp shower for the hot water, and use your garden hose. Little or no construction needed, and no permit games to play.

Not sure about the drain, but it would raise suspicion if it hits the gutter. You would for sure need a permit to extend off existing plumbing.

I just use the outdoor shower on my travel trailer and the water runs into the bushes

Thanks. I have a water outlet out back of my house that I currently have a hose hooked up to. Could I not extend the plumbing from there to add hot water? Even doing that would require a permit?

Is it actually hot water? If so you should be fine but if you have to tap into existing plumbing = permit. Don't ask how I know this

Most hot only goes from water heater to furthest bathroom all in the walls.
