What is a Little Free Library?

It’s a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. You can, too!

Welcome - Little Free Library

If there isn't a Little Free Library in your neighborhood, might I suggest that you try and get one? They are really cool and people do use them.

Here are two that are close to my house -

This is a great idea!

I'll bet people really do share their books.

How is that done? Do you need to find a craftsman in your neighborhood to make the hut?

I do like them. Anytime I see one, I immediately think that the neighborhood is a solid one. I don't think I've ever seen one of them damaged, dilapidated, or vandalized.

One of the neighbors in an adjacent neighborhood just built a really cute one. Another adjacent neighborhood has had one for years. We don't have one at this time. We would need to have someone volunteer to create it and decide where it would be put.

The one in the first pic was made by my neighbor to match his house, which is really cool. I've also never heard of one that has been damaged or vandalized. Maybe you can share the attached link with some neighbors to see if anyone knows a woodworker? I doesn't it has to be fancy. Just make sure to get it registered so they will send you the sign.
