Terro is the best stuff to use on ants, don't bother using anything else. Long after I got rid of my ants, my next door neighbor still had them, because she was spraying with Raid. She complained that off of my ants came over to her apartment.

Glad to hear I'm not alone, I have to check out the Terro, I had been dropping borax in my sink, sounds like I had half the right idea. I have been avoiding the nasty checmicals...if my pet needs to leave for 4 hours it can't be good.

Definitely seeing more ants this year around the property.

What's more are the fleas for the kitties this summer.

Yea, that's why it's imperative that you find the hole to their nest. Terro is a nasty chemical, but just use it in that nasty, sloppy hole and you don't have to evacuate anyone.

I also block whatever holes they're getting into the house through with dish soap. It stops them for as long as a couple of days, sometimes as short as an afternoon before they find someplace new to get in, but if you do that in conjunction with treating the outside nest with terro you should be able to avoid nastiness in the house.

????
Terro is pretty much just sugar water and borax - I can think of other ant-fighting products that are far more worrisome to have around the house

I agree, but it's still a poison...not something you want pets or kids lappin' up off the floor.

I didn't put the Terro on the floor, even though I have a cat. The ants were in HIS window, and he wasn't allowed in the window until the ants were gone, and cleaned the window sill. That took about a week.

Terro is great, believe it.

About 20 years ago, we used to find a chalk at swap meets from China that appears to have since been banned. That chalk, although perhaps toxic, was amazing. Ants never crossed a line. Does anyone remember?

They don't like the ammonia in Windex; spray it anywhere they are coming in or crossing the floor. You could use a spray bottle with diluted ammonia in it (the ammonia smells to ants like what their fighting smell against other ant colonies is) too, but I like the smell of Windex myself.
