Having heard comments and watched the Padres for 3 seasons I can say that they are improved from 2011. But what really irks me is that with the talent which they have two things bother me. 1) Morale. It almost seems like they don't have the fight. I know they do and catch glimpses during the season but then somehow it goes away. 2) Hitting. Why don't they have some really great #3 and #4 hitters and while I'm at it what about a real leadoff man?

ok. I'm done for 2014.

Out. Way too streaky. Slow starts then they wake up around mid season and get hot and are mentioned as a possible wild card team. Then they fold. Rinse and repeat.

The fact that Black gets a pass because it's assumed the player talent isn't there also makes me leery. Is Black content to crap out losing seasons as Padres manager or does no other team want him?

No manager is going to win with that roster.

When I saw the thread header, I though this was about another hipster beer.

So Black is content to hang around and manage crappy teams. Thanks for clearing that up.

Black is a great manager. He gets more from his players than most managers would. I am surprised he has stuck around with the crap he has been given. We can only hope he stays with the new ownership and GM.

Do you think he's being approached about other MLB manager jobs, since he's so great?
