Default Where to go for some snow?

This might sound a little weird, but I miss the snow living in San Diego. What are some places where I can get to by car around here, within a couple of hours, to see some snow? I'm not neccesserily interested in skiing or snowboarding, just walking around where there is lots of snow.
Are the local mountains (Palomar, Cuyamaca, etc.) a good idea for that?

After a big storm like this you may get some accumulation up there, but it won't last long. You'll have better chances in the San Bernardino mountains, in particular Mt San Jacinto (take the tram from Palm Springs).

I agree. Was up there last weekend. It was beautiful, esp. over the holiday. Plenty of areas to hike and walk around in the snow, not a lot but enough to be white, and the best part is you don't have to deal with driving in it up there.

Doesn't Alpine get snow?
I've heard Palomar get snow, the most I've seen there is frost.

If you don't want to go out of town, there are companies that make snow, but it'll melt fast.
