RN relocation ?Julian or other CA suggestions?
Hi
I am a currently single woman, an RN, with extensive behavioral health experience, looking to relocate in a better climate than Wisconsin(duhhh!)..Looking at AZ, CA and NM. I'm checking out career opportunities in all of these areas..
I love San Diego, and Carlsbad, where my daughter lives, beautiful areas, no question, and ideal climate..But I want affordable housing (at least 1500 square feet single family home) and a commute that's not too horrible..I hate 6 lanes of bumper to bumper traffic..want to be home from work in 30 minutes or less..Julian looked like a possibility, at least online..Don't mind a long weekend commute to San Diego, Carlsbad or other major cities, but not on a daily basis..Is this dream a possibility or should I be more focused on the AZ or NM area? The areas I'm looking at in AZ are Tucson and Phoenix. (Have family in Scottsdale) Any advice welcome

Julian is neither commutable nor affordable, I think you'll need to consider other locations, and I think AZ or NM is probably more your speed.

Julian??? Its way up in the mountains, it has like one street, and the only place remotely commutable from julian is ramona (and that is like an hour through a windy mountain road)...which most people in san diego wont even consider going to because it is too far! But you know, I have a cousin in pheonix, and I am not sure how far that is from scottsdale, but it only takes about 4 hours to get from sd to pheonix, so you wouldnt be that far if you went to AZ.

Julian is more of a place that locals spend a Sunday afternoon, or maybe retire to. It sits about 5,000 feet in a mountain range with only a couple of winding mountain roads down the mountain into San Diego. It is more of a village than a town. I knew one person who commuted to San Diego from there every day for a year and hated the drive. I wouldn't recommend living there, but you should visit when you come to S.D.

Hi there...I'm an RN also...and ALSO in Wisconsin...will be moving to sunny CA soon. I've checked out quite a few different areas. We'll be living in Ramona...pretty much decided if I want a house that's not falling down, that I can afford...I therefor...commute! Lol...
