and also, apparently, #1 for School Systems

"WalletHub compared the attractiveness of all the large cities in the U.S. in terms of livability, the quality of their health and education systems, economic growth and tax rates. Our data set includes a total of 31 key metrics."

I'd take WSJ and Kiplinger over WalletHub. And SD doesn't make the grade with them.

So, we're no longer a "sleepy beach town full of Hodads and beach bums"?

I'm all about lists, but Wallet Hub is terrible.

That list has about as much credibility as Tripadvisor's new ranking list of "Best Pizza Cities". San Diego at #8?

Read the fine print. The same publication ranks us 33 in terms of local economy and taxes. San Diego is ranked 79th on their "best places to find a job" ranking. And, on their "best cities for families" ranking, San Diego is 43rd. Please also note that the "education" ranking is weighted according to how many residents have college degrees, so it is not a true measure of the quality of schools here since so many people are transplants.

"Rankings" need to be treated with some skepticism, or at least a closer look at methodology.

It may make people feel good to say "I live in the 6th most livable city" but what does that really mean?

You're right. Those of us who can afford to live comfortably and raise a family here live in the #1 most livable city.
