There are some quality, "Top Tier" gas Stations that are just as cheap as Costco. You just have to find them

I use the gas buddy app

The additives make all the difference between oil companies. They all carry each other's product and exchange product...UNTIL, the additives are mixed in. Only then, does it become Exxon-Mobil, Cheveron, Shell, etc. Most cars won't run " great" on a constant diet of Costco gas.

Costco gas used to be without the same additives, back then my dealer suggested top tier every 3rd tank and Costco the rest was OK. Since then Costco has included the additives and is classified as top tier, so is the same quality as the others. People tend to have their preferences but in reality all top tier gas is basically the same despite their advertising.

This from a NY Times article: Gabriel Shenhar, the senior auto test engineer for Consumers Union, the publisher of Consumer Reports, has experience that ought to make him a determined scoffer at brand preference. ''We tried to conduct tests a few years ago to measure the differences in acceleration and fuel economy of different gasoline brands,'' he said. ''We bagged the test, because any differences we found were not greater than those you find day to day caused by changing air temperatures or humidity.''

And here's another article on the topic from Edmunds: Is Cheap Gas Bad for Your Car?

I also use the Gas Buddy App, but haven't found anything that's less than Costco yet.

If I'm at Costco I will fill up but I won't go out of my way to go to Costco. My Costco is about a fifteen minute drive from my house and then a 10 minute wait in line for the gas. I would end up spending about 40 minutes round trip for a tank of gas that would save me approximately 3-5 bucks. My time is worth more than that. I usually just use the 76 or Mobil in Bonita, depending on what side of the road I'm on. For me its about time and convenience. Not that I don't like saving money but I just won't go out of my way or waste time to do it.
