Inglewood is going to be gentrified beyond control over the next 5-10 years. The LA Rams Owner is spending close to $3 billion of his "own" money to build complexes, offices, condos, restaurants, a stadium, etc. The city will probably pay for some improvements to the roads.

I'm not a fan of Inglewood, but with the kind of money Stan is spending, nobody is going to recognize Inglewood in ten years. And that's if you drove by today, much less 10-20 years ago.

Sounds like Downey. Since they built movie studios and added extra shopping there, it really brought the place back to life. The 105 fwy helped make the place more accessible.

L.A. is so big that you could probably fit the entire city of San Diego and parts of SD County in North or West L.A. alone with no problem.

Growing up in North OC specifically Buena Park in the 90's, Long Beach, Compton and most of L.A. was only like 20 minutes away from me, so the gang culture was all around me, and many of L.A.s neighborhoods were really rough. Even Hollywood has some pretty bad parts, but flash forward 20 years, and yes many sections of L.A. have improved a lot. I never thought L.A. could ever be revitilezd knowing how huge it is. But just in the last 5 or so years, the redevelopment and displacement of many of the poor in L.A.'s most dangerous neigborhoods is surprising to say the least. L.A. still is overly Hispanic in feel and I don't think any amount if gentrification will change.

I would even put Old Money Coronado comparable to Beverly hills without all the great ultra high end urban shopping centers like Beverly Hills has. But at the same time parts of Coronado has a very English/German Town, Bostonish feel almost, like how Seaport Village is especially by the bay. L.A. doesn't have anything like this.

It's crazy because although San Diego has increased in population, it stll hasn't changed a whole lot in 20 years. It's just more crowded, way more expensive, and better respected and known on a national front.

I was in DTLA yesterday for a game at Staple Center. I drove around downtown afterwards before starting the drive back down.
I would say Skid Row = the far Eastern section of the East Village.

Also, the bridges over the 101 just North of DTLA are lined with tents, just like the bridges North of DTSD-Cortez Hill over the 5 and the ones to the East are or at least were last I went.
