I've never seen the Grand//Garnett off ramp coming from DT and heading towards the beach backed up as it was in mid April (or any day other than July 4) as it was today...between this and the freeways more crowded than I've seen them, I'm rooting for a recession to slow things down.

Your post is nothing unique. It's always complaining about traffic. Then everybody comments agreeing the region is getting more congested as the population increases. It's nothing new. This thrend is commen in every city.

It has definitely gotten worse and noticeably so over the past year or so and never recalled traffic backed up this time of year--the off season...not trying to be unique.

I was down surfing in Cardiff this morning and was disgusted at some of the stuff I saw. Red solo cups and empty coors light cans littered on the beach. Traffic was an absolute nightmare in downtown Cardiff too. I understand the area attracts tourism but I wish these tourists at least had the respect to keep the beaches and town clean. This is why I like the winters more in San Diego

No but the campsites are right on top of the bluffs overlooking the beach. Right at the river mouth some of the campsites are practically on the sand. Anyways, tons of people walking around with red solo cups at 11am with a bunch scattered in the sand and along the bluffs

Traffic is getting increasingly worse, but still relatively better than other metro areas.

I see spots of congestion in and around San Marcos, near 78, some on ramps and near the new DMV was backed up yesterday. I'm just glad I take the back roads to work and only have a 10 minute commute, I think I would be singing a different tune if I had to take 78 or I-5 south every morning. Around here I have found it to be not so bad, compared to what I'm use to in SoFla and my old commute which was bumper to bumper traffic for 30 miles, it moved but was heavy. Still have not seen anything close to traffic of the DC Beltway, Philly, NYC/NJ Metro Area, Atlanta, Houston, Miami and etc. Everyone I work with tells me to avoid LA like the plague and a few commute down here from that area.

I agree the D.C. Beltway is an absolute nightmare, glad I don't live there anymore. Taffic here is bad but it's much worse elsewhere. During non peak hours it's a breeze though.

Also the snow/ice factor to Mid Atlantic and Northeast areas makes already bad commutes a living hell. I remember I would spend 15 to 20 minutes shoveling out my car, scraping the ice off the windows and putting the heater on high and turning on defrost, then getting in the car wearing layers and a winter coat, along with a hat and gloves and dealing with traffic, then leaving work and black ice, frozen run off, salt and cinders. Trucks jackknifing, accidents and delays.

Sometimes when I wanted to go back to the Northeast/Mid Atlantic, I felt like I needed a reality check to remind myself of what to expect, I never forgot nor will I how it is.
