Default San Diego Spring Break

I am from Grand Rapids, MI and will be going to San Diego for Spring Break.

I will be in San Diego from March 7th - March 17th.

Do you have any good things to do or see?

I love beaches and I enjoy volleyball.

Do you have any ideas?

How is the temperature?

I have not seen a SB thread.

Even so, am I not allowed to talk about it again?

Thanks for your input.

Here are two threads:

Which beaches to visit?

Favorite Things to do in San Diego

Best place for beach volleyball is Mission Beach, at the far south end.

Here is a Google Map showing the exact location. Zoom in, and you'll see lots of volleyball nets on the beach.

asbury ct san diego - Google Maps

Due to a large beach brawl last Labor Day which involved several drunken individuals and San Diego SWAT police, all alcohol has been banned from all San Diego beaches as of this year. You will see many "No Alcohol Allowed" signs posted along the path next to the beaches.

While it will be alot warmer here than in Grand Rapids, don't expect Florida weather here in March. We'll still be in the middle of our rainy season, and the ocean water temps will still be downright chilly. Average daily highs are in the mid-60's.

On the other hand, there is a chance that you could be here during a mini-heat wave. Cross your fingers!!

What do you think about going to Rosarito Beach in Mexico?

I guess it averages 80s in March.

I turned down FL to come out to San Diego... don't let me down : )

Rosarito is only an hour south and will not be that warm. Also given the situation in Baja right now it's not looking good for Spring Break down there.

Most college kids in SD go to desert places like Lake Havasu or somewhere warmer, San Diego is not a big spring break place. You should have gone to Florida.

I have to agree. When I was in College in San Diego, everyone went to Lake Havasu or Las Vegas. People use to go to Mexico a lot more, but it just became too risky. The "cops" down there carry machine guns and are always willing to take bribe money for not throwing Spring Breakers in jail.

MTV had their big Spring Break special in San Diego in the early 90's and it rained almost all week. I don't think they ever came back (not sure though as I stopped watching MTV a while ago).

although san diego is not a popular spring break location, in my opinion, the pacific/mission beach area of san diego is like spring break 24/7/365... obviously, the density in these areas depend on what the weather is like, what time of year it is (summer is when it gets crazy for the most part), what parties are happening, and if local events get people near the area.

but yeah, cancun/florida/arizona/nevada/aruba are for spring break... san diego is for the summer. you'll still have a lot of fun though!
