How is La Mesa these days??
The threads I saw about La Mesa were kind of old. Wasn't sure if the neighborhoods had worsened or not. Where are the trouble spots??

La Mesa is a great little city, with no gangs and no crime! It has a fancy downtown, no graffiti, and you can walk anywhere safely. It's apartments are all fancy schmansy. There are no trouble spots to speak of!! NONE ZERO ZIP.

Not true. La Mesa's western boundary with 92115 is actually just west of 70th street and there are some rough-around-the edges areas over here. It's not like City Heights or even really as bad as North Park.
There are sketchy apartments on Normal Street over by Helix High. There are of sketchy apartments down by 70th / Lois st and University ave. There are commercial robberies and (typically crackhead / drunken) assaults late night on University Ave, but it's not really too bad during the day.
The neighborhoods in 91941 vary a lot, there are some pretty run down houses in Rolando and parts of the neighborhood south towards Lemon Grove over by Waite street. They don't have sidewalks in their residential neighborhoods so it looks a little shabby.
It's not really that bad or anything, there is some minor tagger stuff happening for sure. I saw gang grafitti on both sides of Lake Murray boulevard just north of I-8 which is a nice area. To be honest really no place is immune anymore. La Mesa village had a rash of armed robberies on the trolley and it turned out to be a 13 and 14 year old boy and girl.
