Once you get used to it - it is great- you can watch the game and still have plenty of daylight left to get out and do something.

We are moving to SD from Jackson(Jackson Hole) Wyoming
We are moving because Dick Cheney and friends (i.e. the filthy rich) have taken over the valley and if you think San Diego's homes are expensive try living here. This place has been immune to the housing slump, rising at 15-25% annually for the last 5 years. It might seem like a great place to invest, but the high-end of the market has to drop too, and that will happen soon. And you still have to make over 100K a year to raise a family here. We want to cash out and purchase one of the many foreclosed properties with our equity. In the era of mortgage horror stories, it is best to avoid the mortgage altogether, if you can.

Trust me, you'll love it! Nothing like waking up and watching a game immediately. Unlike the East Coast, we get to watch 3 games on Sunday instead of two.

Even better is Monday Night Football at 6:00pm. It's the perfect excuse to go to happy hour after work. It always freaked me out knowing that you all are still up at midnight watching football, while it's only 9:00pm here. And what if there is overtime?!?

Yeah when the Redskins are on Sunday or Monday night, it can get rough (especially if I go to the game....home by 2 am on a weeknight). So I'll look forward to that part.

But Sunday (and saturday for college) i'll have to get used to. Nowadays I can sleep in, go to brunch, do some yardwork, read the paper, go to church if i'm behaving, before settling in for kickoff in the afternoon.

Guess it does sound kinda cool to just wake up, reach for the remote and click on the tv (I'll need Direct TV and NFL Sunday Ticket....I will NOT be switching team loyalties).

Come to think of it, in college i slept until 1:00 before waking up to watch the games.

I plan on moving to SD in a few years. Why? Because I'm sick and tired of the BORING central valley (I live near Merced, CA) and i'm looking for more things to do. San Diego seems to have everything I need, except a hockey team (but hey, the Ducks are an hour or so away in Anaheim!).

I've been to SD twice over the past few years and I love it! It's a beautiful city and has some amazing views. I grew up in the Bay Area (San Jose) before moving to the central valley so I'm used to being in big cities.

I'm a 37 y/o, white, single female (with one cat) living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. After owning my house for 11 years, I have the common FOR SALE sign now on the front lawn. Even in this declining housing market, the average home price in Calgary is over $400k. I should be able to have enough money from the sale of my house to buy a nice condo in San Diego.

Over the years, I've visited SD numerous times as well as lots of other places in the US, Caribbean, and Central/South America. San Diego remains one of my favorite places. The great/constant weather, ocean, beach, nightlife, diversity, and now affordability makes it almost perfect.

My plan is to spend at least 6 months of the year there relaxing and trading stocks online. During the summer, I will come back to Canada and work through an employment agency. I most likely will consider renting my condo in SD while I'm away. I am so happy that I can actually afford to buy a place in paradise.

My partner of 21 years and I will be moving over to San Diego during the first quarter of 2009. We will be moving there from the Central Texas area.
We are both active and healthy - I turn 50 next week and he is 56. We have 2 dogs.
We are looking forward to the weather, the variety of life and the freedom that San Diego and California offers.
It's hard to express how we feel about San Diego - for myself, I was offered the opportunity to move there and attend SDSU right out of high school, but family obligations kept me from coming - my partner lived in Huntington Beach during the 70s - and we both have talked about coming there for the last year - finally made the decision some months ago and started moving in that direction - downsizing our collections and tying up loose ends.
I have been telling family that I spent my first 50 years in Texas and will be spending my 2nd 50 years in San Diego/ California. I haven't yet decided where I would like to spend my final 50 years- I think I have time to give it a lot of thought.

P.S. Every night before I turn off my computer - I hit the thread in this forum that has all the pics of San Diego - and I place myself in those pics - I especially love the walk down to the beach.

see you soon.

I am moving in the right direction as far as getting my move on. I feel overwhelmed thinking about moving 50 states away though. But Virginia is not where I want to be this time next yr.
