Opinions on Mira Mesa
I am moving to San Diego from the OC, we are potentially looking to buy a house. We are seeing some good deals on foreclosures in Mira Mesa. The school performance maps indicate that the schools are fine.
Any opinions on Mira Mesa in general? Are there areas we should stay away from?
thanks

I don't see any downside in Mira Mesa. It is fine there. I drive through Mira Mesa everyday to go to work. I recommend living on the West side of Mira Mesa and further away from Mira Mesa Blvd. It's more beautiful. Mira Mesa has two freeways (15 and 805) running through it, so it is pretty convenient to get in and out.

How have foreclosures affected Mira Mesa?
MM seems to have one of the higher foreclosure rates in the city. How do residents see this affecting the quality of life there? We're considering buying our first home in MM because it seems you can get a pretty big home and yard and a decent high school for a very affordable price.

Looks like a lot of foreclosure properties have been taken recently in MM. True that these properties negatively affect the overall price of those in MM because of the comps, but I believe the trend is short-lived.

Mira Mesa is average for San Diego, pretty much the Tustin of OC. Tustin has cool places and gang area's, MM has a few cool places and gang areas. Actually, I would probably say Mira Mesa is more like the Orange of OC, Tustin ain't that bad.
