I am planning to move to the La Mesa area of San Diego
Hello. I am planning to move to San Diego, La Mesa area April 2009. I will be 28yrs.old and was wondering what the area is like. Could someneone tell me a little about the area? Are there many nice hangout spots? Thanks!
I've been looking at apartments online and they all seem nice and pretty pricey....which is ok, since I want to move from Georgia.

It's a quiet, mostly family area. There are a few bars downtown but mostly you will be hanging out in San Diego.

To say a few bars is generous. On La Mesa Blvd. I count 2 and they aren't hot spots by any means. The Cafe, Cosmos, is relaxed and nice and there's a moms coffee house down the street for Moms and tots. The used bookstore, Maxwells, is excellent. Lots of antique shops/thrift stores. La Mesa also has a shopping mall, Grossmont Shopping Center, with a WalMart and a Target. La Mesa is a great area to raise a family. I miss it very much.

Lamesa
Yes, Lamesa Is Nice Place To Live. I Have Lived Here Many, Many Years. It Has Bars, Restaurants, Movie Theaters, parks, Just Like Any Other Place. Small Community. Downtown Seems Like A Step Back. But You Dont Stay Down There. Eat, Drink, Antique Shops Galore, Old Car Show. Great Place.

91942 is better for single professionals
I'm in 91941 now (family oriented) for the second time, but I spent my single years in between in the 91942 area...specifically, the Lake Murray area. Lots of nice condos/apartments and I saw a number of singles hook up successfully.

You're forgetting Joltin' Joe's...young, college-aged crowd, though. There's also Mike's downtown...more of a neighborhood bar. On ECB, you'll find more bars...Chico Club (Mr. Madrid's hangout *lol*), Mad Dog's Saloon, Norm's, The Sham Rocks, The Boulevard (I think the last two are just inside the San Diego limits). Definitely no clubs, though.
Oops...almost forgot places on the north side of the 8...but can't recall the names.

Did you know that Joes is the East County unofficial headquarters for Steelers fans? Very passionate too.
Anyone know where the Dallas Cowboy bars are in the County? I'm a Chargers fan for life but married into a Cowboys family

No, I didn't. I only went in there once. I didn't like feeling like I could be everyone's MOM! *lol*

Being from Texas, I'd like to know where a Cowboy "friendly" bar is, too.
