Exactly. I think people need an occasional "reality check" about SoCal weather. We can have 90 degrees any month of the year. It's definitely not new; I can recall a couple of Thanksgivings that were about as warm as this and were more than 20 years ago.

It's too dry, not too hot at all here the past few days. Of course we moved here from South Florida so it's a matter of perception.

I've been in San Diego for 20 years now and have seen 90 degree heat waves any time of the year. However, in our particular neighborhood, it was 97 degrees on Wednesday and 92 on Thanksgiving, which was completely unprecedented. The official temperatures also set records for several days, and that comes on the heels of the setting Thanksgiving records just three years ago. So when you are getting into record heat, it's obviously not normal or common to have temperatures like this. In fact, by definition, it's never happened before, or it wouldn't be a record. :-)

Well, not since they began keeping records in 1871. I wouldn't say "never," we don't know that.

Records are only available since 1871 and there was a tiny bit less glass and concrete back in those days.

I remember the last Thanksgiving dinner I cooked in Southern CA; it was hot and miserable, the oven was heating the small kitchen to the point I had to put the air conditioner on!
Since that day, we went to Big Bear or Lake Arrowhead to get a touch fall and cool air.

I dealt with the heat for 3 decades. I finally live in a 4 season climate and love it. Nice and cozy inside, cool and brisk outside with crunching leaves on the ground as you walk, a true fall. There are many things I miss about California, but that miserable heat? I could never live like that again.
