Watching the past two months or so, it's been interesting thinking back to men such as Bill Cosby and wondering why the dam didn't break right then. But politically and locally, it's been interesting to wonder why Bob Filner's indiscretions weren't the broken dam that ultimately started to sink the sexual harassment politician.

Any thoughts on why Filner didn't begin the #MeToo movement?

Politics is Hollywood for ugly people. No one cares if Bobby F was talking about his privates in the C Street city admin building. No one.

You know what our vapid, reality-TV narked population cares about? Hollywood starlets spilling the dirt on a big-time movie producer whose films racked up an unbelievable 81 Oscars. That's big-time, baby. And the avalanche really got moving when more "celebrities" joined in the cause.

Our know-nothing, do-nothing citizenry is blinded and beholden to celebrity. And the general populace's low IQ is outmatched only by its low attention span and inability to understand detail and complexity. This is the winning equation: (sex) + (celebrity) + (attractive starlets) + (140-character Twitter limit) = massive national attention.

Uknown mayor Filner and San Diego city government? Not even a fraction of a chance.

There is no "curve" and this is nothing new. What's different now is that bottled-up liberal rage has found an effective target (men in positions of power). This is a trend, nothing more.

Because nobody outside of the local population really knew, or cared, who Filner was besides the brief national news stories around his scandal.

Trump wasn't president.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed/pissed because I actually liked him as a mayor. Couldn't support him as a leader or gov't official after that sort of behavior, though. Doesn't matter if you like someone's politics or not, handsy disrespectful creep-o molesters should always be removed from positions of power, ESPECIALLY if they're elected officials.
