that's a wonderful philosophy you've arrived at. Maybe you should change your name from angry to grateful.

My happiness is not tied to how much my Govt takes from me. Matter of fact, I'd be even happier if it was less.

Scapegoating is a nasty tendency, no matter who is being blamed.

According to most studies I've seen, the San Diego metro area is a generally happy place compared to most other large metro areas in the US. If you're unhappy, or you're surrounded by others who are unhappy, consider making some changes to your social circles. Get involved with your interests, and become engaged in your life. That will go a long way toward addressing the dissatisfaction you're feeling.

In 1970, people were laid back and nice. Fast track to today: moody and uptight. More crowded, more expensive and uneven booming economy.

Too many people can't take a joke and are too sensitive these days. It's all about being careful not to hurt someone's feelings which can cause a lot of people to walk on eggshells, giving people a complex.

They're spending their money in Hong Kong and Beijing. Not in San Diego or Seattle. They are not living or working here. The only participatory aspect of it is paying property taxes and pushing up housing for everyone else.

I now live near the Canadian border, so I read a lot of Canadian news. The 15% tax applies only to housing in the greater Vancouver, BC metro area, not all of BC. I recently read an article that reviewed the success of the program, which has now been in effect a little over a year. It essentially said that foreign buyers are still purchasing the most expensive SFH (over $1.7 million in Vancouver Metro) & paying the 15%, because they can still afford to, & are branching out to buying less-expensive real estate like condos in the suburbs of Vancouver. Toronto is thinking of enacting a similar tax. Can’t find the article or I would link it.

I still think it’s a great idea that should be happening in this country. BTW, the foreign buying is also what helped drive up the insane prices in the Bay Area this last go-round, it is not completely the fault of high-earning techies.
