I left that very place in the late 1960's ... only even visited a handful of times (in summers and falls) since ... any questions?

I bet the rent is cheap, though.

Not particularly.

Twin Cities are quite modern and popular ... including with a fair amount of tech industry.
If you like ice fishing, you can't beat the place with a stick ...

MPLS It's actually a more modern and economically vital place than SD. But this story is about Duluth....

I drove from Duluth up to Thunder Bay once. Beautiful drive along Lake Superior. Very reminiscent of the PCH. That was in summer, though. I spent two years in the very northern Minnesota/North Dakota area for work. 2 summers and 2 winters. It made me very grateful and appreciative of what we have here.

Q: "So what do you do in the Summer?"
A: "If it comes on a weekend we have a picnic."

I went to my parents' place in the Midwest for Christmas. Went to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago on the 26th (amazing if you haven't visited) and my friend and I thought we'd take a stroll through Grant Park afterwards. It was about 3 degrees and we lasted about 3 minutes. There were actually quite a few runners on Lake Shore Drive, I couldn't believe it. Balls of steel if you ask me.

It was only 35 degrees in Seattle with snow on the ground when I came back but I'll tell ya what, those 35 degrees never felt so good. It was upper 40s today and frankly felt amazing.

Do not miss those Midwest winters, I'll tell ya that. I can do 30s and 40s and those are actually my preferred running temps, but anything below that.... no thank you.
