You have two good breakfast spots a short walk from the hotel. Richard Walker's Pancake House and The Mission.

I'm not aware of any good Filipina Restuarants.

Dinner you have the Gaslamp- If you want something nice try Donovan's Steakhouse it is also very close to the Omni.

There are no Filipino restaurants downtown, but there are in National City. National City isn't that far from downtown, so you can easily take an Uber to the restaurant of your choice.

You'll find lots of them on www.yelp.com.

Thanks for all the information

I'm handing back our rental car after our trip to Carlsbad. We have never stayed in San Diego, just fly in and fly out of the airport so as the wife has a one day course in the city we thought we would stay for a while.

It's too short a stay for most airbnb and i point blank refuse to pay the extortionate prices for parking at the Omni ($50 per night. Humphreys is only $16.) I'd rather put the money towards a good meal or two. Uber/lyft is out for rides because we have a 4yr old and they can't take kids. Think we will make it Humphreys

I think you could find a better rate than 50.00 a day in a garage or a nearby lot.

wouldn't stay in DTSD with a little kid - almost nothing for them to do, it's all just restaurants, bars, homeless and drunken partiers at night. The "childrens" park is taken over by vagrants. I would definitely choose Shelter Island instead, from there you have a lot more options.

With a 4 year old I would stay in a Residence Inn with free parking and a full kitchen in the room. I would drive to excellent Asian restaurants on Convoy St., fabulous restaurants in La Jolla and cool taquerias like JV's on Morena Blvd. I see no reason to stay downtown with a little kid.

Filipino restaurants can also be found in the Mira Mesa area.

The OP says that they will only be here for two days. That's really not enough time to really do or see anything here, anyway.

You took the words out of my mouth Sassberto.

Downtown still feels very grownup and single after 7pm. Almost all of the "Restaurants" in that area turn into clubs around that time.

Shelter Island remains one of the best kept secrets in San Diego.
