I went to a car show this evening in La Mesa. Although a much smaller event than the car show in Escondido, there were lots of high quality cars. Good street music too.

Downtown La Mesa was impressive. La Mesa has sured growed up. Very North Park like. Lots of very nice restaurants and shops. Lots of new retail space under construction too. Very few 'for lease' signs.

Although BO-beau kitchen + garden was the exception. Great visual impression. It has a nice place to sit outside and people watch. But the menu is 3/4 alcohol-based. They have a very limited and expensive food menu. Go for the atmosphere and wine selection. Not the food.

I've eaten at BO-Beau in OB and really enjoyed it. It's high-end and certainly not a typical weeknight-meal kind of place, but there's room for one fancy-pants restaurant in La Mesa, no?

BO's was packed last nite. It won't be the only 'fancy-pants restaurant' in La Mesa for long.

We should have eaten at Fourpenny House but they don't have outdoor seating.
