I have two kids who are in elementary school, and we are looking for the places and schools.
I would like to ask you guys about schools that area.
Especially, I am curious about school spirits, kids behavior in class, teachers, volunteers, communication with teachers...ect.

I am thinking of Solana Pacific ES in 92130, Park Village ES in 92129, Shoal Creek ES in 92128.
If you guys know about those school (and middle schools as well), feel free to let me know about pros and cons!

Would appreciate it in advance.

i had a kid who went to SPES last year. obviously, carmel valley is a well-off neighborhood so the schools will reflect that. i don't know how common this is in calfornia, but SPES and most other CV schools have a "foundation" that collects money from parents and the community to fund programs that the schools can't otherwise pay for (in my personal view, anti-tax groups are robbing our kids of education).

my recollection is that SPES has little or no after-school programs, but lots of the kids go to the city library next door.

CV is overdeveloped, and the schools are crowded, so they tried to alleviate the problem by splitting elementary into K-3 and 4-6. most schools have either no, or very limited, busing, which leads to lots of traffic with parent drop-offs. it's not so bad with SPES, but the traffic situation with carmel valley MS will drive you insane.

none of the schools in carmel valley have any gifted programs. i've heard poway schools do, if that's important to you.

92128 has Bernardo Heights HS, which last I checked was excellent. 92129 has Mt.Carmel which last I checked was good, but not quite as good as Bernardo Heights.
