I like Ikea too. I use one of their larger desks for my computer desk, and it's very sturdy. We also have a very nice black/metal coffee table that goes well with our black leather furniture.

BUT.. our dresser is falling apart on us, lol.

If I had the money I'd shop at those contemporary design places like Hold It or the other ones previously mentioned.

A handful of places in Chula Juana, El Cajon ("Cash and Carry" I think is their name) and Tijuana, for cost savings. Also, Target has a huge selection of furniture online (and not in their store) with a lot of valuable user reviews. Wal-mart has the best price, but can't touch Target's selection, again, all online is what I'm referring to here. And Wal-mart has many user reviews that I value and place a lot of stock in. Hats off to both Wal-mart and Target for not deleting the negative reviews which are, at times, brutally honest and harsh.

Does Ikea allow users to post user reviews? If they don't, that's wrong. They need to get with the times. User reviews are invaluable in so many ways.

Thanks for all the replies. We looked at Jerome's site and will most likely go with that. We have 2 Ikeas within 30 minutes right now and hate it. Their furniture is made very cheaply and falls apart after a couple of years. Those instructions are terrible, too. Don't get me wrong, their furniture is aesthetically pleasing, as long as you don't open and close the drawers too many times.

If you don't mind me asking, what price were you quoted for moving and from where? Thx!

We were quoted 2800. It's from NJ to SD. If it was all our stuff, it would be fine. But it's only 6 pieces of furniture and a couple of boxes. No bed, no tables, no couches. We compared that to other people who moved from this area to SD and they moved entire 2 or 3 bedroom houses. Some paid less, some a bit more. I can understand if you are moving all the contents of your house, but if it's only a couple of things, it should be much lower.

Wow that it a lot. I'd do the same if I were you then. I'd have a hard time giving up my furniture though, but then again, I'm halfway closer to CA than NJ.
