Lots of museums in Balboa Park, and the planetarium too.... if you wanted to,
you could probably spend a couple of days there.

Coronado Island and the Hotel Del is a nice walk along the beach and you can look around the hotel area or eat at the village area. Casinos in East county Barona, Pala, and Sycuan. Old time is an easy tourist trap to walk around and find decent Mexican food and good drinks. Plenty of good food in San Diego not the best but a nice variety of good food.

If you do go to Balboa Park, stop in for a few craft beers/cocktails and a light meal at Panama 66. https://www.balboapark.org/eat-drink/panama-66

Also, you might want to check out Liberty Station after Cabrillo monument -- it's an historic Naval base that's been turned into restaurants and shops. The Liberty Station Public Market can be a fun place to grab a quick bite to eat, but there are other good choices at Liberty Station too. https://libertystation.com/go/liberty-public-market

I love the Liberty Public Market and Liberty Station in general. There are actually several interesting galleries and small ''museums" that I hear are worth checking out while there. And I believe an official Comic-Con museum (not my thing) is going to go in over there at some point.

Yes, Liberty Station has really evolved into an interesting and fun place to spend an afternoon. I was doubtful about the Public Market when it first opened, but enjoy it a lot -- it's an especially good place to take out of town guests because everyone can find something they like to eat. (And as I said there are other dining options in Liberty Station too). I've taken a few classes in various venues in the arts district and it's great to see how things are developing there as well. Liberty Station is really a unique part of San Diego.

The official Comic Con museum is going to be in Balboa Park: https://www.balboapark.org/museums/comic-con-museum .

Liberty Station does have a comic art gallery which is fairly interesting: San Diego Comic Art Gallery – A unique, new and dynamic space, designed to educate and engage the local community with the sequential comic book and graphic arts. And a comic book store: https://comickaze.com/
