As I read this forums, it seems many could afford the $500-800K pricey homes in the suburbs. Folks here talk about buying homes in Encinitas, Poway, Point Loma, Solona Beach, La Jolla, Del Mar, etc. However, as I'm planning to move to San Diego in several months, what about Logan Heights? Some people tell me it's going to be the next La Jolla (which I heard is also good and upscale). From looking at the map, it's next to Downtown (which is the heart of San Diego) and just less than a minute away from Coronado. Some parts of Logan Heights even have nice ocean views and you can feel the breeze. Is that right?

If so, are there many folks here that live in Logan Heights? I presume it's a rich White folks neighborhood - however, I do like diversity as well. What are the similarities between Logan Heights and counties like Del Mar/Point Loma/Torrey Pine?

Barrio Logan the next La Jolla? Never. There's too much Mexican history and many generations of families who still live there that will never leave.

I can definitely see it becoming the next hip area to live in, much like Hillcrest and North Park in SD, or Los Feliz, Echo Park and Silverlake in LA.

There's already a cool restaurant in the area worth checking out called The Guild . According the their website, it's located in a newly named area called SoCo (South of Commerical Ave). See....it's already beginning

Your post reads like a troll. Logan Heights is the poorest neighborhood in San Diego.

In my opinion it will never gentrify to the Echo Park or Highland Park level, because the housing stock is so poor, and because downtown SD is not enough of a job center to make Logan Heights an attractive location for young professionals.

However, turning the barrio itself into a historic area would be a boon to the area, but the surrounding neighborhoods have pretty serious infrastructure issues that would have to change.

There are parts of San Diego that will never gentrify and Logan Heights is definitely one of them.

Didn't you just post yesterday that you bought a house for $167,000 on your $26K income?

I can't believe I got duped by this thread!

I'm with you, Sassberto! I'd love to see Logan Heights turned into a historic district. I knew an old-timer who used to tell me stories about all of the Jazz clubs and restaurants back the 50's and 60's that he frequented when he was younger. It's hard to iimagine that Barrio Logan was once the center of San Diego's black community.

In this thread, I'm just being sarcastic and poking fun of the rich folks of SD who always recommend North County SD as if it's the only places to live in SD and assuming everyone is rich who can afford the suburb.

Bad joke. Sorry!

I'd go to Church in Barrio Logan from time to time. I think its a great place to invest, the bungalows, tho' beat up, are beautiful. I think of it as the future Pilsen neighborhood in Chicago. If I was male, 26, no debts and kinda rough on the edges, I'd consider buying there...Just don't bring the girlfriend or your parents home
