Default Oceanside

We live in Baldwin, but close to the Oceanside border. IN fact, we're in the Oceanside school district, which is a pretty good deal. The housing prices were a bit lower b/c of Baldwin mailing address, but we have the benefit of the Oceanside SD (which is decent).

My question is whether anyone knows much about the relgious diversity of the Oceanside SD. We're looking in other areas now for houses..something a little bigger. Supposedly Rockville Center (South Side HS) is a great SD academically, but the housing prices remain high. Rumor is that South Side, while in Rockville Center (home of the Catholic Diocese) is fairly diverse these days, while Oceanside is moving towards a heavily Jewish population. Although the housing prices in Oceanside seem more reasonable. Maybe the Oceanside SD isn't a good as South Side HS?

Anyone know the truth about: (1) diversity in Oceanside and Rockville Center; and (2) how the two schools compare academically? Care to comment?

Are you talking about Oceanside - outside San Diego, California or Long Island, NY?

Stay away from most areas north of Hwy 76 (but not all), particularly the NW parts.

If you go to the City of Oceanside website, there is a link to the police dept, and from there they have links to crime data. You can put in an addy or intersection and see the crime data in that area. Between that and the sex offender registry, you can easily check any potential housing.

Can you give me some more information on what you're looking for? Family friendly or doesn't matter, easy access to the 5 or 15 or Camp Pendleton, etc? I guess I'm wondering why Oceanside specifically. Nothing against it by any means. I have owned and am currently renting in Oceanside.
