Default Commute Carlsbad to Costa mesa

I will need to commute Daily from Carlsbad to Costa Mesa (OC)
Having kids, I don't have so much flexibility on departure time
What's is the average commute time, I have been told 45 minutes?

Figure 45 minutes as long as everything is PERFECT. (ie. no accidents, rain, traffic, interesting clouds to look at, etc) Even then, 45 minutes might be slightly optimistic unless your starting and ending locations are within walking distance of the freeway exits. Using the 73 can help but it gets expensive. $4 each way I believe. Maybe $3.50 with the discount for using the transponder.
