^^^Mid-80s in the house? How can you sleep at night? I had to bust out the portable A/C for the first time last night.

The water is great right now too, upper 60's to low 70's at some places. LA Times said Solana Beach's water was at 73 yesterday. It's summatime in SD, enjoy it!
Ditto! Except it's been in the low's 90's at my house and warmer months are still to come!

Did you make it to the beach today? The 4pm observation reading had the warmest ocean temps I've seen so far this summer:

No beach for the last several days. When it's this warm, it gets to mid-80s inside - upstairs - by 3 or 4. We finally had to relent and turn on the AC the last few days. The problem now is it isn't cooling off at night like it was.

Yep I went to the beach Wed morning before going to Opening Day in PB and it was WARM! After the races me and a few friends stripped down to our underwear and went swimming across the track on our way to the car b/c the water was just so nice. Not a chill or anything, it was perfect.

This site is showing low to mid 70's all over SD: CDIP recent observed

The weather has been PERFECT the past 2 weeks, I hope it stays this way all summer on the coast.

^^Thanks for the link! Got my stuff in the car and stopping by the beach after work, once again today. Nothing beats a little body surfing after a stressfull day at the office. Water temp at Scripps Pier yesterday was 74!

Did anyone else see this in the news a couple days ago? First, the giant squid and now this!?! Definitely, a little unnerving:

Fisherman releases great white

More beach days on the horizon! FYI - I went today after work and the waves and water temps were ideal.

The sunshine out here is great, but it would be nice to actually have some weather for once (i.e. a Thunderstorm or a decent rain storm). I would give almost anything to see a bolt of lightning out here.

I haven't even seen so much as a single flash in the sky in the five years that I have been out here. What's strange though is that in that time, I have seen LA county under Tornado warnings twice and photos of some killer lightning over the Hollywood sign. Talk about strange. lol.

I'm liking this heat along the coast even though a few nights it was a bit warm to sleep but not too much since it wasn't humid. Was kind of surprised how dry the heat was since usually this time of year we get more humid, monsoonal moisture and heat. Last night it got humid again with dewpoints in the low 60's but now it's back into the low 50's. Can't wait to be finished with this work week and go to the beach all weekend, hopefully traffic won't be too bad today so I can get home in time to get some beach action in.

I was going to bring this thread up last Saturday b/c I wanted to know if anyone else noticed what occurred last Friday. Last Friday is was cloudy and overcast all day and it actually rained in a few spots with some isolated thunderstorms. All day the temp was 70-71 and when I looked at the temp at 9pm it was still 71. But by midnight it was around 79 degrees and humid. So basically the high temperature came just after midnight that day rather than during the afternoon/evening. I just thought that was weird b/c I don't recall ever seeing the temperature rise like that after sunset.

you can see the temp rise late at night and in the early morning in these two graphs:
Fri: History : Weather Underground
Sat: History : Weather Underground

and yes I am that much of a weather nerd I look at hourly temperature graphs occasionally, haha.

...and who said that the weather never gets wacky in SD! lol. Heck, even where I' am from the temperature never got warmer during the night like that unless it was during the winter and a strong southerly wind kicked in some moisture and warmer air from the Gulf of Mexico. But even then, it never warmed up quite that much.
