No longer having desire nor reason to remain in AZ, California has ALWAYS been my emerald city. I am 48, divorced, no kids/pets. Found many places on Craigslist and accepted a room in Long Beach (luv Queen Mary) another in Santa Clarita. Ppl tell me, DON'T MOVE TO LONG BEACH! or, Santa Clarita?? Too far from ocean.

Is Long Beach that bad??? I cannot afford La Jolla, Newport, etc - I have a nest egg, but can't spend it, sewwww, WHICH CITY COMES CLOSE TO ONE THAT I AM HOPING TO FIND; QUAINT, CLEAN, NO DRIVE BY'S, BY BAY/OCEAN, GOLF - AND WORK NEAR HOME W/O HAVING TO FREAK OUT ON FREEWAY BYWAYS/OVERPASSES/BUMPER2BUMPER ROAD RAGING ME.

Please, any suggestions??? Am moving/packing now and driving to CA next week, hopefully with a destination in mind. Thx for input.

If you're asking about Long Beach, why are you posting in the SD forum? Isn't LB closer to LA? Also, you mentioned work near home, but you don't mention anything about what area you work in.

If you want input on where to live, you need to give more details. How much can you afford, where do you work, etc.

I think he mentions long beach as a way to ask for a similar neighborhood in San Diego. My recommendation would be to find a rental unit out here that is west of interstate 15 and north of the city. Get a 6 month lease and spend the time driving neighborhoods.

If you want a beach town, start in Point Loma and drive to OceanSide; you'll find one in there somewhere.
