Maybe this has been here before and I missed it. I've just been to MissionBeach/Belmont Park for the first time in a long time even though I live 10 minutes from there. Covid and all. Since when are all of those vendors allowed to occupy all of the boardwalk along the park area? They are nearly down to where the condos start. And they are blocking the public benches on the boardwalk, by stacking their stuff on them. I was walking and couldn't find a place to sit. Lived here 10 years and never saw this before. Is it a new city policy. If it's ok, fine. Just wondered.

It's starting to look like Venice Beach out there....I started noticing it right before Covid19. Its also happening in PB and OB by both of the piers.
The brick and mortar businesses aren't too happy about these either, I am indifferent about them

That ch10 clip starts off with "venders" written in the footer, and 7 minutes later someone finds a dictionary.

Anyway, I love how the two people they managed to interview try to justify their presence. The one guy claims all the money he makes goes right back into the community (huh???) and the other one who barely speaks English goes full tilt law expert and says that selling art isn't the same as selling other tangible merchandise. Funny stuff.

The reality is the city requires a business tax permit for literally EVERYONE. They already have the means to shut it down so all this baloney about new guidelines is a smokescreen. As for the state, if you sell wares, you HAVE to collect sales taxes and need a resellers number. There's all sorts of existing rules in the municipal code about blocking public right of way. The reason nothing isn't being done isn't because there's no way to go about it. It's pure laziness.

They are blocking the only water fountain down there for about 1/4 mile and it's on the other side of the street.
