Default Coming in Febuary!

Hello all,

This is my first post. I usually don't join forums, but seeing all the knowledge of the City and great advice, I couldn't wait to ask a question.
I am transferring to San Diego (Pt Loma) from the middle east. I've been out here for the past 3 years, so I have no idea as how life is in the U.S.. But I have been looking at some great rentals. I saw one that interested me, located directly across the street from Horton Plaza. Now, that location isn't a big deal to me, but my thing is my wife will be accompaning me from the Philippines...it will be her first time in U.S.. I just thought that it would be a great idea to be so close to something like that, as to give her something to do when i'm at work(until she finds a job).
My question is, how would you rate this area? How would the drive time be on a Monday afternoon? I'm looking into some places to live, and it doesn't have to be downtown. Sorry it's a long post, and I appreciate all the help and advice!
