Plan on 45-60 minutes in heavy traffic at rush hour. It could be considerably longer if there is an accident or major event.

Depends on where in Escondido and where in La Jolla.

It's one thing to live next to North County Fair and work in (say) UCSD. It's totally another to live in Eureka Springs and work in downtown La Jolla. The former could be done in around 30 min. The latter would be closer to an hour.

At that time in the morning your always going to run into traffic on 15 south, but it generally eases up after Via Rancho Parkway, will pick up a bit again near Rancho Bernardo, but after that it's really not bad at all.

Coming back home your going to run into traffic again though, I'm not so sure about from La Jolla to the 15, but once your on the 15 I know you will hit late afternoon traffic sometimes near Rancho Penasquitos all the way until you reach Escondido city limits, then it eases up again.

There are far worse commutes in the county, just be prepared for the usual traffic in and out of Escondido during those times. I'm sure others will give you some more precise info as well.

Sequence Drive...

Just a fair bit of warning. You're likely to be taking Mira Mesa Blvd to the 15 to get to and from work. At the times you're talking about, the worst of the traffic won't be on the freeway, but on Mira Mesa Blvd itself, especially in the morning.
