Relocating In June - Point Loma Area?
We are relocating from Northern California (by Oregon border) to San Diego in early summer.
We have a tentative lead on a rental house in the Point Loma area (off Nimitz) sort of midpoint between Fomosa(sp) St and Worden St. Sorry, I don't know of any other way to describe without actually giving the exact address.
The zip code is 92107.
Would just like some feedback about the area. We have two children that will be elementary school age (8 and 5) and one toddler. DH will be commuting to the CG base over by the airport. I am a SAHM.

That particular area is pretty much all large apartment complexes, some nicer than others. Popular with singles and young people. Generally a safe and decent area. Some noise issues and some car theft but that is common to all large apartment complex zones. Since you say you are looking at I house, I am guessing you are possibly south of Worden and north of Chatsworth which is a nice residential neighborhood. If you can give me better street boundaries I may be able to help more.

My husband is active duty.
The address is just north of Worden and south of Famosa (not too far off Nimitz). It appears to be single family residences and some townhomes. I know that the "housing area" has a pool and community hall/center.

Oh forgot to add that the reason I would live in housing is that some are really nice and there are no utitlites to pay. My husband is an E-6 and BAH fir San Diego for an E-6 is $1900 but we couldn't rent a 3 bedroom house plus pay all utilities for less, we'd probably pay more..

Yeah, it would be nice, but the waiting list for senior enlisted (E8-E9) is 36 months LOL! Our entire tour down there is only for two years.
Senior enlisted comes pretty low in the pecking order for housing. They figure they give you enough money for housing that you shouldn't need to live in housing I guess

I'd still get on the list and live in a month by month apt until then...those lists are NEVER accurate and if you just make the attempt to call them every week or so you'd be surprised..you'd be in sooner then expected.
We lived in Bayview..it was condo style, real nice..when we were first on the list it was a year and a half...well 4 months later they call and offer a house...and we were number 84 by the way..so don't count housing off your list. If you are going to rent a house I would only rent a month by month so when housing does call you, you could accept!! Good luck girl!! I'm jelous! We are on our way to Brunswick, Maine soon! Hopefully back to Cali after that!!
Oh and by the way there is this wonderful military wives website www.cinchouse.com
oh and you said you were on the N Cali border now, what base is there?

You might consider the Admiral Hartman housing, which I think it near the area your looking at renting anyway. These are singel story detached houses that allow pets..waiting for a 4 bed is only about 5 months...like I said it's never that long

We are not apartment people so month by month is NOT an option for us, especially not with three children.
We really prefer living on the economy at this point in our lives, but thanks for the tips on military housing.
