Female Friends in San Diego?
I very recently moved to the San Diego area (specifically PB/La Jolla area) from Hawaii and am looking forward to meeting some new friends. I have searched this website and have found a few threads posted by guys who are looking for friends and ways to meet people but none by girls (no offense guys but I'm sure my boyfriend wouldn't want me surrounded by single males all day and night). I'm originally from Hawaii and enjoy the usual "girly" stuff like shopping, getting my nails done and having a nice bite to eat. I also enjoy the "usuals" like going to the movies, concerts and sporting events. I love the outdoors (being from Hawaii I'm especially fond of the beach but not the ice cold water) and have a bicycle and kayak. I would also love going camping (in a tent, not an RV) if anyone has any good spots they know of for that kind of stuff.
Does anyone have any ideas on where/how I could go about meeting new people here? My boyfriend has his own network of friends and the girls are all very nice but I'd also like to meet people that are just "my" friends if you get what I mean. Thanks!

Try craigslist.org. You can search for just platonic friends and just put out an ad that you're looking to have some girl friends.

I don't know how far your outdoor interests go, but if you are okay with sports, San Diego has a bunch of co-ed intrumural sports you could join. You don't have to be great or serious to get involved - - kickball is one of the sports! With San Diego having so many transplants, you'll find a ton of people like yourself. There HAS to be other people moving into the area who are thinking the exact same thing!

I'm new here too. I moved here a year ago and unfortunately, I've had a hard time finding friends. Most people I meet on craigslist flake out. I've never experienced such flakiness before. Oh well. Just stay persistent.

Aloha! I've made some great friends from Meetup.com. I live downtown but hopefully will be in PB soon. Love it there!

Welcome to SD. The girls aren't as down-to-earth in SD as they are in Hawaii...in fact..a good handful are fake, phony, and snooty...but do not give up! There are us good ones. To be honest, I met a TON of friends going to beauty school & thru college. If you have extra time, honestly, I would take a college class at the community college..it's really cheap. Take dance...aerobics..art...something where you won't have to sit straight and listen to the teacher. You would be amazed how quickly you make friends through there.

I agree with page3000...I'd get involved in the activities that you want to pursue and you should meet like-minded friends. Take some classes that line up with your interests and attend events, etc. The Reader is a good source of what is happening socially in San Diego. Google your interests and San Diego...there are a lot of things to do here and others who share your interests! Good luck!

BTW You gals..I wouldn't stress it too much. I'm from San Diego..and living in NYC right now...it's the same drum roll over here..except worse. All you do is work and go to college..and the few gals that wanna be your friends are usually leeches or heading downward in life. Sucks to say it but don't feel bad.

Just Moved
Hey there:
Just wondering what age range you are in. My daughter is living here with me and hasn't met anybody either. She is 22.
